Vamizi Mozambique Air Charter

Immersed as it is in the Indian Ocean, Vamizi Island is easier to reach than you might think, considering how castaway it is – and with miles of deserted coastline and a tropical aquamarine ocean to cross, it’s all part of the adventure! Its remote, so don’t expect a quick trip there – but when you arrive you will feel its been worth it indeed.

It’s located in the Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique, which consists of 32 tropical islands. These islands stretch for 100 km (62 miles) along the coast from Pemba to the Ruvuma River, which forms the natural border between Mozambique and Tanzania. There are several flight options guests can choose from:

(But not all flights are going every day- so make sure to talk to our travel experts about your planned itinerary- in a specially made Mozambique holiday package). You can connect from South Africa, Mozambique or Tanzania easily within a day, with direct international flights from Europe on British Airways, KLM, Swiss and Kenya Airways.

And there is smoothed area for a land strip -by scheduling private Vamizi flights, which take you straight from Pemba (Mozambique) or Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) to the Vamizi Island landing airstrip.

Vamizi Private Island is located in northern Mozambique a two and a half hour flight away from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and an hour and a half from Pemba in Mozambique. If coming from Dar es Salaam you stop off briefly at Mocimboa de Praia to clear customs, before a 15-minute flight to your island paradise! Stunning views of the Quirimbas and the intrepid swirls of lively mangrove forests and beach. Expect the whole journey to take no longer than three hours altogether, with a stop en route to sort out customs. It takes just one hour from Pemba, along a picturesque Mozambican coast.

Upon landing on the island’s airstrip, guests will be collected by their personal chauffeur, from there, depending on the sea conditions you will be taken in a speedboat just fifteen minutes to the lodge, or seated in the “Island Rover” – an open 4×4 land rover that tracks through the lush forest and over the rough coral spine of the island and takes a bumpy, but steady forty five minutes to the lodge. & Beyond Vamizi Island is located 100 kilometres south of the Tanzanian border, in the Quirimbas Archipelago.

With the re opening of Mocimboa de Praaia in 2018 as an international airport, this has now made things a whole lot easier. Especially when you are coming in for your Mozambique holiday after a Tanzania safari. You can clear customs and immigration here, and its a whole lot quicker and more efficient to fly to Vamizi from here
